I remember, around 2020-2021, sitting in my house's backyard with my older sister. She walked over to where child me was sitting, gave me her phone, and said "You should read this". I was in a bit of a reading slump (been dealing with those ever since I was a child lmao), but The Lighting Thief completely took me out of it. I became obsessed immediately. When I was supposed to be paying attention to online classes, I was instead looking up "pjo memes" "percabeth" "nico di angelo". I got a lot of spoilers from this, to the point where I knew solangelo was going to be a thing even before I even knew who Will Solace was. I think it was worth it. Nico was probably my very first case of gender envy, I wanted to look like him SO BAD.
Of course, it's been so many years, I've read so many other books, watched so many shows and movies, that pjo isn't my biggest interest anymore. But don't get me wrong, I still adore it, and I don't think I'll stop anytime soon. Fun fact, I met one of my best friends ever, Beite, because of PJO!! We met on the spanish PJO wiki, in 2021 or 2022. It's super dead now and before that it was very toxic but I can't bring myself to hate it when thanks to it ik Beite. so yay!!!
